Owning and Selling Turkey Cupcakes in Georgia

Firstly: I want to make my blog non-generic. Where are you all getting your backgrounds at?

The ups and downs of owning and selling:

1. Fridge. They were supposed to come on Monday between 8 and 12, which apparently meant 2:30pm, and when they did it took 15 minutes for them to say "your compresser is broken" and say they'd be back on Wednesday to fix it. They express ordered the part on Monday to get it here by today, and it never came. No one will be here on Monday, so it will be another 6 days before we have a refridgerator. All of the food is officially spoiled, it wasn't worth keeping the coolers stocked with ice to be honest. But, on the upside it will only be $250 for the part, which means no need for a new one!

2. Camper. The old camper was sold for $600 over book price at $5100 on Ebay last week. The guy that bought it sent us his deposit already, which is why we now own the new camper. Well, he called on Monday and backed out of the deal because he got laid off. There is a lot of legal issues with this, and technically he signed a commitment and HAS to pay the money...but times are hard and if he doesn't have it we aren't going to make him pay it. Thought he was going to cry on the phone. So we contacted the second highest bidder, which was $5000. He bought another camper last week. He said he wouldn't actually mind having both, but he could only come up with about $3000 right now. So, we have no idea what's going to happen and we currently own two campers.

On to more exciting things...

We are headed to Georgia in about 5 hours (yes, 3AM!) so I probably won't be sleeping until then. Thankfully, I'm not driving. I'm not packed yet, as it stands, so I can truly use a bit of extra time anyway! It's supposed to be 64 degrees there tomorrow, and I can't even express how happy that makes me. It's FREEZING here--hence why our food has stayed good for as long as it has hah. We'll be back Sunday night some time.

The real thanksgiving treat is the Turkey cupcakes my best friend Jay and I just made. They are pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. Though, it's painfully obvious that neither of us has a future career in decorative baking. Also, please ignore the fact that my camera takes horrible pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas Shopping Mania

I spent less than 2 hours Christmas shopping today. Everyone on my list is now done, with the exception of my dad (only because that has to be ordered from the net). All the kids are done (5), all the siblings are done (10 including in-laws), all the Grandmothers (4) are done, and 3 out of 4 parents are done. I got the Baby B the cutest little set of books, I'll try to take a picture of them and show you all--they are darling. I'm so incredibly happy right now! I love to get my Xmas shopping done before Thanksgiving due to the craziness that is Black Friday and onward.

I even stopped at hallmark and got a few cards! Only 4, but I have the generic ones for most people already. I did find the absolutely most perfect card in the world for B, though. It's just a shoebox card so it's all white and has a very little picture on the front and no bells and whistles or anything, but it goes like this: Front: "i don't have any christmas wishes left" inside: "you already came true." The end. Perfect and amazing.

We've decided we're doing Christmas breakfast at my Gram's this year with my family, and have yet to discuss the holiday with his family and what's going on there. Other than that, no plans have been made for the holidays!

May go see STOMP! first week in Decemeber! Has anyone seen the show? I've heard it's amazing, and I'd love to know what you think! It was the Trans Siberian Orchestra last year, so looking for something different!

Working on some things for Creative Writing tonight, and going out with the girls afterwards somewhere so it will be quite a late night. I'll be sad when this class is over, it's a very fun class. Plus the 4 of us don't have one single thing in common other than we're crazy, so chances of us seeing each other beyond this semester are slim! But it's fun while it lasts!

Talk soon!

The Camping Vampireck Refridgerator

My refridgerator is actually broken, now. The repair man is coming Monday to look at it, but the woman on the phone said that the main problem with the Amana is the compresser and that it's somewhere between $500 and $700 to fix. Well, the thing only cost $800 to begin with because it was a floor model, so it's not even worth it if that's the case. Which, since it's not cold anymore, I'd venture to say it is. So last night was spent (mainly) shopping around for a new fridge, but really didn't find anything superbly perfect. Did find one, but it's another Amana and ... well, that's not going to happen. But our food, the important stuff that we kept, is now in coolers in the garage.

And I (please help me) went to see Twilight last night. I haven't the slightest idea why, as I have not and do not plan to read the books nor am I much into fantasy. It was okay, I suppose. There's some seriously painful character development on anyone other than Edward, but at least Edward was good. Bella's character is basically like 'Oo I've known you for two seconds and now I've found out that your a vampire and you say you'd really like to kill me, but hey...that's perfectly cool. Let's be in love.' There were some good parts and some really bad parts, but in the end it's still a movie about vampires. All I know is, if it were me, I'd set a ground rule from day one: no neck hickies.

Onto the exciting news! Bought a new camper today! It's a 2008 Rockwood 8315BSS, and it's awesome. It only sleeps four, though, and that's a bit low. But it's an absolutely gorgeous camper and it was $12,000 UNDER book price on it. Some pictures:

Adventures in the Freezer

First, this is the first time I've gotten up before 630am since last September (of 07), and it's to study Italian (which, by the way, will eat your soul). I wish if I was getting up this early (5) it would at least be for something more productive, like running haha.

Onto the freezer. Not that our state isn't frozen right now, but this is about an actual freezer. Right before I went to work yesterday I went to get some ice for my drink and realized the ice was melting. Strange. Well, turns out the thing isn't actually running. It is only maybe three or four years old at the most, so it isn't what you'd call out-of-date or rundown, it just doesn't want to work. A bit of fiddling with it did absolutely no good, and long story short all of the frozen food is now packed in a spare freezer up the road at my Gram's house. I'm not really sure if the fridge part of it is working or not, but I would venture to say no so we'll be staying away from the cold foods for awhile just incase.

On a different note, B applied for his summer training. He really wants to get into the Jump School in Colorado, which is 12 days of jumping out of planes...basically. I hope he gets it, because he's ridiculously excited, and I guess I might be able to do without him for 12 days. I think we're going ice skating on Saturday (what happens when he leaves the plans up to me) as long as the rink is openskate!

On a writing note: I haven't actually touched JAP in over a week now, and it's sitting somewhere around the 22,000 word mark for the month. I'm hoping to tackle it big time over Turkey Weekend! The Cover, if you are interested:

Tootles for now,

Adoption and the Military

So, I looked into it today and it really is rather unfair that military families have to jump through so many hoops just to get an agency to consider them for adoption. That's crazy. Yes, the military does require moving around--both in country and overseas--but there are so many children who need homes that it just doesn't make sense to deny them the ability to help out. Besides, base schools are amazing, there's excellent medical care, great adoption benefits, a built in support system AND it's so racially diverse it may as well be a picture of the world choir. How is that not good for a child? I'm going to fight this eventually, I think. I know. This is something I've always wanted, and I don't feel like it's my fight entirely--everyone needs a voice ;] /rant

Anyway. I think we are taking off for Georgia on Thanksgiving morning...around 3am. I promise to sleep the entire way--that will put us there around 1pm, though, so maybe not the whole way. Talked to my father about it today and regretted that decision almost immediately, having decided I should have just not shown up at his lunch instead--save the argument. I'm excited about going, though! Haven't been in 4 years, and it's warm there! It will be good to see Honey, and it may be the last time.

Speaking of weather, it's FREEZING! In the 20's! This is Ohio, we aren't supposed to get snow until January and then through April, but it snowed this week. It was especially bad in my hometown, which I was only in for a few minutes, with the wind and the amount of snow coming down you couldn't see 50ft in front of you. But once I got on the highway and drove a few miles there was nothing--I mean, the roads weren't even wet kind of nothing.

A reminder of the 15" March snow last year (from the "Spring" file):

Chase standing in the snow. Had to shovel around the fence so he could go to the bathroom!

New, First, Prime and the like.

Well, I finally made the jump and decided to start my own little blog. I have followed a few blogs on here for quite awhile, but never set up my own account!

Anyway, since this is my first post I guess I should get all the "info" out of the way! I suppose it's safe to say you are going to be reading blogs mainly about the following info haha. I'm nearly 21 and I'm a Junior in college studying Secondary English Education. I'm a writer and am currently working on a novel for "NaNoWriMo," which requires writing 50,000 words in the month of November. I have had a few poems and short stories published, but this is my first attempt at a novel. I am the youngest of six and the only one not married--one of two without children. I have two nephews and three nieces, all of which are superbly amazing and I love them with all my life! I spent my summer living mostly in Kenya, Africa and a bit in England (both York and London). My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer the week before I was due to leave the country, and has just finished her chemotherapy. She's my rock, and while I was gone we spoke everyday and since I've been back I've been with her for every doctor appointment and treatment she's had. I also work at a bookstore and I love it like crazy.

The main reason I wanted to make this blog, though, was because of one thing: my boyfriend. He is in the Air Force ROTC and will be stationed next year. Most of the blogs I've been following are those of military wives to try and get a feel for what the life is really like. Err...to see if I would be able to handle living my life knowing we would be uprooting our family every four or so years for 20 years all over the world (he specifically mentioned Italy). I still haven't quite figured it out yet, but I love to hear the different perspectives.

Anywho, it's really great to have finally started one of these to keep up with all you guys!

Talk soon,
