I Believe

I believe that if you order something and pay for expedited shipping and it's still not arrived four days later nor have you gotten a shipment confirmation, there's a problem. 420 reviews that say "shipped so fast!" and 5 that said "shipping took forever"...you're sure to be number 6.

I believe that if you already don't want to go to work on day three, it's probably going to be a draining job. But, if you're pay is enough, it hold you for at least awhile. I work at 3.

I believe that stress can kill any good feeling you may be having. Between doing the planning, going to school, working, and attempting to have an actual relationship with my fiance, I would turn down the lottery simply because I don't have time to deal with the paperwork.

I believe that if the book you want your class to get isn't at the book store until 5pm the night before a 1030 class, expecting everyone to have magically acquired it is bull.

I also believe that if a book is not at least online for you to see that you need it, telling your students that they need it AFTER they've figured their book budget is low and seriously obnoxious.

I believe that if you want to make a change, like moving all paper portfolio's into ePortfolio's, it should not cost the students that use it almost a hundred dollars.

I believe that if you want my business, you should really call and/or email me back. It's a genetic trait that if you piss someone in this family off, there is no way to redeem yourself. Ever.

I believe that if you offer to give someone a free sub because they waited around forever for someone to show up in the front, while making tons of noise to get their attention, then you should probably not change your mind later. You should probably not make some lame excuse for your absence either, since your customer is aware that you were just talking to your girlfriend because she walked by and said "he'll be right out".

Me! (...me, and possibly you)

First, I have to say, I FINALLY got us a reception hall! Fairgrounds it is. It's cheap, it's tons of parking, and I can decorate it the day before. Winner. :o)

I received this award from Jess over at Jesstagirl and her Officer. Thanks lady! She's pretty awesome and has a nice giveaway going currently so you should stop by and check her out!

1. Who is the hottest movie star? Ever? Will Smith. Available? Channing Tatum

2. Apart from your house and car, what is the most expensive item you have ever bought: A plane ticket from London to Mombasa.

3. What is you most treasured memory? This is a tough one. I remember when I was a little girl I would sit on my Poppy's lap and he would tickle me till I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. (I'm actually keeping this even though it was Jess's answer because the same thing is true with my Pa).

4. What was the best gift you ever received as a child: A trampoline. We all got it as a collective gift for Christmas one year from our grandparents. It sucked that day, because I was sick and it was cold and I wasn't allowed to play on it, but after that it was like the godsend of all gifts.

5. What is the biggest mistake you have ever made? I think it was transferring colleges.

6. 4 words to describe yourself: sarcastic, complicated, adventurous, loving

7. What was your highlight or low light of 2008? highlight was definitely our proposal night.

8. Favorite Film? 10 Things I Hate About You. Forever and Always.

9. Tell me one thing I don’t know about you. When I'm upset with something I never say anything about it until I feel that it's too late, and then I just avoid all parts of it.

10. If you were a comic book/strip or cartoon character, who would you be? Zoey on Baby Blues.

Now it's my turn to pass this award on to some of the awesome blogs I follow:

and an extra one for fun...

Little Big Horn

It snowed last night. Well...maybe not snow...but all I have to say is we were sitting in front of a fire last night in jeans and hoodies and were still freezing at the lake. It's August...that's not supposed to be 56 degree weather!

My week of vacation was lovely. Got to see my niece and nephew for a couple days and enjoyed myself some new york-style cheesecake in sugared strawberries. Got to see my nephew, who is 8, practice football and it was hi-larious. Took giggly pictures with my niece. Also laughed listening to the kids try to explain to their teachers what a "MayMay" was when I went to pick them up--normal kids have aunts that they call "Aunt Something"...but not me, I'm a MayMay and they can all thank my sister for that. Well, except in Brady's case, where I am actually a "Mammy".

The lake was okay. I almost finished the only book I've cracked all summer. It was rather chilly for a bit of the week, but it was a nice break!

Tomorrow I start class. I also have to call up to work tomorrow and put myself back on the schedule. Boo.

And, believe it or not, I had every intention of buying a new car this week. With that cash for clunkers program you can get a new Rio or Aveo for just over $5,000 and my A/C-less car doesn't shift on the highway anymore and can't be driven farther than 30 minutes safely. Thankfully, my parents have one too many cars and I've been borrowing my mom's when traveling and such. I don't like Rio's or Aveo's--I honestly think they are quite tiny and ugly (no offense to any of you that own them...) but if I could get a new car for $5k I don't really care what it is, and my car qualifies for the CARS thing. However, while I was gone last week they decided that they weren't going to wait until the end of the month to cancel the program and instead pulled the plug on it for tomorrow at 8pm and there is just no time tomorrow. Besides, with all the dealers knowing that tomorrow is the last day they won't be cutting ANY deals so...it wouldn't be worth it. I'll keep my hot clunker. Sad story.

All the Save-the-Dates are addressed and ready to go. However, I've decided to hold off on sending them until we've for sure reserved a reception hall. That little bit of information is becoming a problem. The cheapest "reception" hall I can find wants $22.95 per plate. Um....no thanks. Sometimes it's really crappy living in the metro area. All the plain "halls" only hold 250 comfortably, and we're really looking at 280-300. Our one and only hope right now is the fair grounds (that's not hillbilly at all...) who I will call tomorrow. If we can get that it'll fit us just fine and we have friends who cater that we can get for cheap. And that would stinkin' rock. If we can't? We are doing in outside...probably in my backyard lol. I'll rent the neighbors yards for parking. Honestly though, I must have talked to 30 reception halls and...is it not insane to spend $10,000 on a 4 hour party? I just cannot bring myself to spend anywhere near that much.

I'm pretty sure we've found a photographer however! Pretty sure...

The End.

Promise.

Confessional Smeshional

(P.S. The save the dates are all but addressed and sealed! DIY rocks!)

Version 3, 4? Something like that.

Hobby Lobby is my crack.

I can't handle watching Man vs. Wild. Drinking the contents of a camels stomach? Chowing down on a fresh reindeer heart? No thanks, I like my shows less cannibalistic.

I miss hair on my knees every. time. I. shave. without fail.

I'm a passenger-seat driver.

I secretly love things with polka dots and bows.

I will drive to the other side of the city just to get two hotdogs, a drink and a bag of really bad chips from IKEA for $2.50 because I love their hotdogs.

I think celebreality shows are a complete waste of braincells, especially when the celebrities call themselves by things like "h town" and/or wear massive clocks on their necks.

I will only use Aveeno lotion, and one specific kind of it, on anything but my hands.

I took Flintstone vitamins until I was 19. Now I still take chewables.

I hate Coke. B hates Pepsi. This makes me happy because I know he won't drink my soda :)

Movement on wedding stuff is exciting! But I try not to bore you with it too much...fact is, though, that it's pretty much the only thing going on right now. I'll be out of town all week next week, so it'll give you a break....right?? ;o)

And I'll leave you with this photo of Ms. Brady Water Baby, who spent the entire rest of the day throwing herself underwater in the 1ft section at the waterpark and laughing her head off.

Th15 Yam

You thought it was the 15th of May? Yea, funny, so did I. At least for all of 24 hours.

The deacon called my house this morning to inform me that there was a freakin' booster festival from 6-10pm on May 15th at the fairgrounds directly behind the church. Fantastic.

But we're not changing it yet, because he's going to talk to the booster club director and see if he can make sure that they all park in the back so there are 150 spots for our wedding. Seems to me that doing that before calling the bride-to-be and freaking her out would have been a better idea...

I must say, though, that I love that he called me even though I'm not even the one that's a member of the church. Haha. He must know grooms don't do much planning.

But, we're leaving it the 15th for the time being. If we have to change, we'll go to the 22nd and Paul will just have to deal with it :( I feel bad saying that, because he's going to have a hard enough time getting our friends to his wedding an hour away without having to compete with ours right in town, but we only had the option of four dates...and that's the only other viable one. Sorry, Paul.

Maybe I'll make it up to him by making his a wig of the hair I'm currently pulling out of my head.

Not to be confused with shaving my hair off. I'm not that crazy.

...yet.

Phatal Photographer Phailure

This is how my week of wedding planning has gone:

Me: "Our date is May 29th"
Priest: "May 29th isn't available"
Me: "Our date is June 5th"
Jayne (maid of honor): "My graduation is June 5th."
Me: "Our date is May 22nd"
Paul: "My wedding is May 22nd"
Me: "My exams are right before it, but since we have no other choices, our date is May 15th."
......no objections, so far.

B and I met with the priest this morning and reserved the church for May 14th and 15th of next year for the rehearsal and wedding. We may end up moving it...I don't know. But I think the likely hood that it will stay as the 15th is very good.

So I came home and started diving into photographers. Took hours, but I finally found one I loved. The prices were right, the photographs were gorgeous, and the team was a husband and wife team so it seemed like a good time.

Then I looked at their availability.

They are booked for ONE day in May next year. Can you guess what day it is??

So it's back to the drawing board on that. And really...I just want decent pictures that don't cost more than we bring home in two months. Seriously. Please??

But at least we have a date! Ha!

...I'm also considering bribing that place with the right price and the good pictures to do our wedding instead. Do people do that? PLEASE??

Save-the-Dates

I've been playing around with save-the-dates. My goal is to make them myself, because it's 100% cheaper (because my mom has a ridiculous supply of nice paper that she's given me free access too and all the ink I need). So far, this is what I've come up with...

Oh, and by the way, before the confusion sets in, I should probably tell you that my real name is Meg, not Via. But, Via Meyerson my is pen name for publishing, and my initials backwards...and there's a long story behind it that will come out at a later date, when boredom sets in again.

Also, May 29th is not our date. When I was fiddling with it earlier, it was...and then the church finally called back and that's not available.

It's certainly not done (because firstly it doesn't have anything that would tell other people who Meg and B really are...no picture of us, not our last names, etc. etc. But, it's a start.

B and I haven't done our engagement pictures yet...those are probably the next thing to come...and then I'll TRY to get them into this effectively...but I make no promises. :)

What do you think?

My Blog Needs...

...a makeover.

But why must it cost $40+ to get a new blog layout made?

I made this one. It was free. I don't think I did too shabby...did I?

My headers are not fantastic, but the rest of it is pretty decent I think.

...at least pretend to agree, will you? Thanks ;)

But I really want a pretty header. I think my creativity is holding me back. Or..lack there of in the header department.

In other news, B called the church to reserve a wedding date.
...Apparently God has a voicemail.

And I haven't slept a full night in a week because I keep waking up thinking about things that need to be done for the wedding. I used to wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and be half asleep and think I needed to keep myself awake to watch the kids so they wouldn't get hurt. You know, the kids I left at 6pm every day.

True fact: I miss sleep.

B picked his wedding band yesterday, and we looked at mine. His is much more than mine. That makes me feel good about myself.

Also, my engagement ring was just appraised for the insurance. Turns out it's worth almost $1,000 more than it cost. Talk about a happy camper ringowner.

Brady will be here with me tonight until Saturday morning. Lots of fun times will be occurring, and after a few days of all my picture taking this is often how she feels around cameras:

DIY Amazingness!

I did go ahead and start the wedding website at theknot.com and I am having a field day with all the crap on that website! There obviously isn't much on our website, as we don't have a ceremony date or reception place or anything yet, but the DIY section on theknot is consuming my life right now. I've gotten so many ideas it's crazy! And we just went over to B's sisters last night, who just got married last year in the same church we'll be getting married in and have a better idea of what we can and can't do with the church.

And we've made some decisions as of late that we are most likely probably going to do maybe ;o):

My brother is now a groomsman. He doesn't know it yet.

We are going to invest in a $3-400 video camera and a family friend is going to set it up on a tripod in the back of the church for us and start it for the ceremony. This will save us tons of money on a videographer and we'll get to keep a kickass camera out of it.

We may have significantly moved the date up for the wedding. It's been steadily moving closer and closer, starting June 2011, moved to either December 2010 or May 2011, and is now all the way up to May 2010-June 2010...but the final decision is up to my mom because she's the one that will be helping us pay for it. She needs to decide soon though, because that's less than a year from now and we need to kick our butts in gear if we're going to do it then.

My mom and real father will be walking me down the aisle. I'd really like to put a disclaimer on this part of the program that says "I don't really think my father has any kind of right to give me away, but I don't feel like dealing with his bitchy baby self all night so he's at least there" but...I suppose I won't.

For the father/daughter dance, which I will be doing because B's mom is all excited about her's with B so I can't just pretend like I forgot, It will be split in half with my dad and my real father.

We're pretty sure our first dance will be to "Jump On It". It's kind of our trademark. People will remember it.

We've had serious discussion about dancing into the reception hall to "I Like Big Butts". So far, our grandmothers hating it is winning out in this scenario.
